GFI Umwelt is a private German company based in Bonn that offers
worldwide consulting, engineering and management services within
the scope of infrastructure development and environmental protection.

We started more than 25 years ago. Until now we have provided services
for numerous projects in more than 50 different countries worldwide. The company development has taken place as follows:

	1979	Foundation of the partnership firm BKV- Consulting Engineers
	1992	Foundation of GFA-Umwelt as company with limited liability
	2002	Merger and renaming in GFI Umwelt

Managing directors and shareholders are Dr. Klaus-Peter Gilles and
Dr. Rolf G. Niemeyer, who have already directed the merged companies
since they were founded.

GFI- Umwelt is registered as company with limited liability in the
commercial register of Bonn.

We see ourselves both as generalists with an all-round approach
combining management and engineering know how as well as specialists
who have developed a high level of competence in core areas of our activities.

As generalists we concentrate on management services. We accompany
the various technical, economic and organi-zational processes of a project
using our special know-how in the application of database oriented
management information systems.

As specialists we concentrate on consulting and engineering services
in all phases of a project. Since we are not engaged in manufacturing, construction or product processing, we provide our clients with an
objective and neutral advice.

We have learned that a project is sustainable only if technical
solutions are adapted. We follow a creative approach to individual
problems taking into account the specific social, economic and
ecological project conditions.

The success of a project is determined by the performance of the individuals involved. Their access to know-how has to be ensured. Consequently,
we see one of our essential tasks in information and knowledge management.

Our management services are related to technical and financial aspects
in all phases of the project cycle. We use the latest methods and
procedures of database oriented management information systems.

Based on our extensive and long-term experience we have developed special know-how in the following core areas:

Our special know-how is focused on technical and non-technical
management aspects relat-ed to the operation phase of a project
with special emphasis on water utility and facility management.

For the implementation of database oriented technical and financial
management information systems we exclusively use software products
from the world's leading suppliers.

From the very beginning we have worked on research projects in order
to develop a high level of competence. Among others, we have carried
out for different federal ministries in Germany the following projects:

	Technical and economical evaluation of the water-related application of herbicides
	Prognostic models for the limnological development of artificial lakes
	Reduction of water losses in drinking water supply systems
	Development of strategies for the use of organic waste in urban areas

We maintain close contacts to universities and research institutions
worldwide, which we use for the benefit of our clients.
